Miniature Phalaenopsis

Phalaenopsis parishii

If you’re looking for an orchid with low light requirements (shade or inside), and doesn’t take up too much room, you can’t go past miniature orchids and there are some nice minis in the Phalaenopsis genera/tribe.

Over the years breeders have produced plants that have a variety of flower colours and sizes

Phalaenopsis are found in the tropics (including Australia) using their flat green roots to attach to moss covered tree branches. They like high humidity, heat and distinct wet and dry seasons.

I’m growing Phalaenopsis parishii, which is a miniature, floriferous, epiphyte. I’m using a terracotta mount and providing daily mistings with dilute seaweed.
